We live here, and want to preserve our community’s unique charms. Thankfully, visitors also love Sitka. We believe a robust tourism industry can be balanced and managed for everyone’s economic benefit.
Our community is threatened by an unnecessary and punitive ballot measure that will hurt our city and its residents.
Should it pass, this measure will result in:
Millions of dollars of lost local tax revenue
Fewer jobs and lost opportunities for small business owners
A chilled investment climate due to Sitka being viewed as anti-business
The benefits of our promising tourism industry are under threat by an initiative that has already been dismissed once. Make your voice heard and end unnecessary policies for good.
The Unnecessary Initiative
Restricts cruise visitors to 240,000 next summer with weekly and daily limits. (That’s less than half of the 2023 summer visitors)
Creates more administrative work to enforce.
Needs less than 600 signatures to make this a ballot measure.
